Mushroom compost and cow manure

Hi Charles,
I’m making my own compost, but for some reason the heap (c.1m3) is not as hot as expected. It’s mainly the worms who are taking care of the composting process. Which is fine but more slowly. As a consequence I don’t have enough compost available.
I do have access to mushroom compost as well as cow manure. I was told that the mushroom compost is relatively sterile and doesn’t contain many nutrients. Was thinking of mixing this compost with the cow manure and letting the mixture rot for a while. Would this be a good approach, what would be a good mixing ratio and how long would it take for this mixture to be ready?

Worms being there suggests it’s nearly ready Ray.
Now who told you that I wonder!
Simply don’t believe all you hear and that is nonsense about mushroom compost, it gives great results as sole compost for example.
Sometimes when delivered it’s not yet fully mature, but is still good to use at any stage in my experience.

thanks. maybe the picture will show you the compost isn’t ready yet.
but what about a new batch of a mixture of mushroom compost and cow manure as i mentioned earlier?

Sure that is not ready!
It’s up to you as regards mixing, I would not and there is a risk of weed seeds spreading out of the cow manure. I would spread that as first layer (if decomposed), then with the mushroom compost on top.
