Greetings all

I have recently taken on a fairly large plot and am embarking on a no dig adventure. My first task is to strim down a significant quantity of grass, which is currently ‘up to here’. The ground undulates somewhat, so will require a degree of redistribution in areas of significant sudden rises and drops.
My question relates specifically to the quantity of tall grass that i will be left with. Once trimmed down, would it be wise for me to leave it ‘in situ’, laying my thick cardboard over the top, followed by compost, or would the presence of this grass cause issues later on ?
Apologies if this question has cropped up previously – i have been unable to find evidence of it having done so

Hello B & B, if you leave the grass it’s food sor soil life, but that usually includes slugs! It’s a 50:50 issue, for and against, depends on slug issues on your site.
I would level the ground before mulching.

Many thanks. I think it would be wise to curb my enthusiasm somewhat, and put in some further prep first, rather than view my thick cardboard as one might view woodchip wallpaper, and bank on it hiding a multitude of sins…
