New Plot for NO DIG

Well I took on a second plot at the end of last year and merely covered it with polythene to kill off the weeds until I had time to start anything with it.
Now I have an endless supply of horse manure and have already spread a 2 inch layer over the whole plot and this morning will be having another 2 loads delivered which will raise this to around 8-10 inches.
will this be too much and will I be able to plant into this as it isn’t fully rotted yet and is about 3 months old
I’m not in any rush to plant up the plot and thought about covering it or just leaving for the rest of the year.
On another note I will have to dig out a well established Rhubarb and Gooseberry and wonder what is the best way to help these survive a transplant

Hello Rick, if you don’t need the plot this year, you could cover after spreading the new compost.
3 months old is fresh for planting into.
If the soil is now clear of weeds and you want to grow this year, planting is an option, and stack the new load in a heap to decompose, for spreading in autumn or winter.
Rhubarb – I would not try to transplant, easier to cut off some edge roots and plant those to make new ones.
