No dig bed in a large trough for asparagus

Hi everyone. I am relatively new to no dig but I have had good success with my beds up to now.
I am wondering if I would be able to grow asparagus in a trough I made for my father. He loves asparagus and wants to try no dig but he is not overly mobile now being in his 80s so I have made him a few elevated planter boxes 3×6 by 18 inches deep, I am wondering if we could grow some asparagus in these or if it is not viable.

Possibly Cadi, However it will be a long wait for perhaps not much: asparagus needs lots of roots to make a good spear harvest and the plants need a lot of water from mid July, as ferns grow.
Then supporting too.
Not easy!

Thank you for your reply. I will find something else he enjoys and then set up a asparagus bed. How will I start a bed for the asparagus thank you
