Onions

    Probably a stupid question but in vegetable classification should onions be in the root or leaf group.? Sorry but with all the snow outside stopping play the mind does wander.

     Onions are a root vegetable if you grow them for bulbs and a leaf vegetable if they are for salad (spring) onions.

    Thank you, I suppose it’s logical really, but not entirely obvious when planning my sowing times. I would also like to add that your book, How to Grow Winter Vegetables, has been a great help, giving lots of new idea’s and helpful advice. How do you manage to juggle Gardening, Writing, Managing this website and moving at the same time ?
