    Hi Charles,

I’ve been handed a second plot 12m x 13m, which is great but the neighbour has a huge pine tree (evergreen), approx. 9 – 10 meters tall. It sits right by the fence so the roots will be invading my plot. Also there are a few other tress on the boarder but I should be able to cut ‘most of the them’ down. And finally , part of the plot – furthest away from the pine tree – it gets very wet in winter, so wet it’s bog like, black mud! To put it bluntly, am I waisting my time?

    Thanks,
    Gary

Sounds marginal Gary unless its vital for you, but its your second plot so … and the bog area sounds suitable for a pond!

By law you are allowed to remove any roots from your garden, even those from trees and shrubs in neighbouring gardens. However, if that tree consequently dies, or falls over, then you would be liable for damages.

Apparently blackcurrants are happy in boggy areas.

Thank you both for getting back to me. I’ve decided to stick with it and I may give blackcurrants ago.

    Gary
