Hi Charles
Is it a good time to plant Tomatoes in a polytunnel now even though night tempertures are still a bit low and how deep can I get away with planting them if they have got a bit leggy mine are about 10 inches to a foot high .
Thanks Mark
Tomatoes will make new roots from the stem if planted deeper. I’ve planted them a few inches deeper without problems. As to the other question, your local climate is key, we don’t know where you are.
Hello Mark its fine to plant tomatoes in polytunnels now, some of mine went in 2 weeks ago and came through the recent cold nights. They are more hardy than aubergines, basil, peppers which I am planting from now.
Good idea to bury stems if leggy, up to 2 or 3 inches (7cm) but don’t go too deep or the roots are into less lively soil.
