Hi,
We’re just in the process of buying a 14×15 polytunnel (the biggest size we could squeeze in to our space) and are getting a bit stuck in terms of working out how best to lay out the space.
From what we’ve seen from other people’s posts, for a 14ft tunnel 3 beds seems to make sense – something like two outer beds of 2.5ft, a central bed of 5ft and two 2ft paths.
Additionally, since we can’t have the door(s) open straight onto the middle bed, the plan is to leave 2ft off the end of the central bed to give space to get into the tunnel (in effect a single path forming a complete loop around the central bed). However I’m then wondering about whether we should also have a dedicated space for working in, or if most people make do with a portable workbench and/or staging over the beds.
We’re looking at just using simple no-dig beds with no framing, so there’s no major work that we need to do or undo if we make the wrong decision now – but any advice or prior experience would be most helpful!
Suggestions
Arrange for door(s) to open outwards,
and/or use a rollerblind of netting to keep birds and insects in /out.
Hanging a shelf to work upon, lifting up on a pulley system as required when not in use.
Consider ways of ventilating, possibly automatically when unattended.
