Ive used up all my beds and seen a few youtubes on growing potatoes in straw and muck. Sadly due to the wet weather we have used up all our organic straw so only option is conventional straw (sprayed not happy). We have cattle so plenty of fresh manure but no more rotted. I am wondering if I can use ‘green’ manure and if anyone including Charles has had success with growing spuds this way. Thanks

sorry, I do have rotted manure but only hay. No straw – can this be done?

I have not tried anything quite like this. You have the ingredients to grow great potatoes and hay is richer than straw, nutrient wise. It is denser which may or may not be good. I would use rotted not fresh manure, make a heap and try!
