Bonjour,

est ce qu’il est possible de planter des pommes de terre qui n’ont pas encore de germes visibles ?
quels sont alors les inconvénients ?

 Bienvenue Benoit, et tu veut dire "shoots" ou "chits", et il est certainement possible de planter les pommes de terre qui n’en ont pas. Seulement il faudra un peu plus de temps pour la sortie des feuilles mais si jamais il gêle tard, au debut Mai par exemple, c’est une bonne chose.

(yes you can plant unchitted potatoes, they just take longer to emerge!)

I am not sure how to plant potatoes on a No Dig approach as in the past I have always piled up the soil in a mound, which involves moving earth and then rotate around so as not to repeat on the same patch. How does one plant on your No Dig method?

 I am glad you soil is clean Andrew, as in ‘solarisation’.

There is no specific method, it depends on your resources. I make a small hole with my trowel so tubers are just buried, then pull a little surface soil up to make a small hill, and cover that with three to four inches of compost or manure, which carries on enriching the soil after potato harvest, which is by just pulling up the main stems.

You probably can plant now in Spain, if moisture is available, but here it is harvest time with blight and slugs imminent, if not present already on leaves and in tubers respectively.

We can have 2 crops of potatoes in Spain which is very nice. Generally speaking I plant in August to harvest in November and will follow your method with my lovely copper trowel which was inspired by both you and Ark Redwood’s book “The Art of Mindful Gardening”, a book I enjoyed reading and now dip in and out of.
