Hello, I tried an experiment this year on the no dig system and have been very pleased with the quantity of the harvest and the lack of weeds in my no dig beds.
I am starting my preparations for next year and the 1st to be planted is garlic which I normally plant in Oct/Nov, directly in a freshly dug bed, but this year I am going to use a bed that has previously had compost spread over it so do not want to dig it.
My question is, do I plant the garlic directly into the existing compost and then mulch with new compost early next year when the garlic is just coming through or spread a new layer of compost and plant the garlic into this?
If you could give me some advice I would be grateful.
Thanks
Richard
