    Hi Charles /All,

The following is my proposed rotation for one of my raised beds.
I would welcome any observations, in particular in relation to the 3 month gap beween harvesting the Oca and planting the Pea seedlings and my proposal to use Green Manure from Sept ’17 to May ’18:

    10/14 – 7/15 Garlic & Onions
    9/15 – 3/16 Spring Cauliflower (Winter Roscoff)
    5/16 – 12/16 Oca
    4/17 – 8/17 Peas (Hurst Greenshaft)
    9/17 – 5/18 Greenmanure (or any suggestions?)
    5/18 – 10/18 Carrots & Parsnips
    10/18 – 7/19 Onions & Garlic

    Don

Goodness Don that is very precise and organised! What do you do when a crop fails? I have a much more fluid approach to rotation as I do occasionally have unexpected gaps or over crowding when things are a bit slow….

    Hi Bluebell,
Its not really as precise as it might appear. I have indicated months to give me some idea of what I can sow/plant when .
I have been fortunate in having never had a complete crop failure. This I put down to careful choice of cvrs in the first instance and not my level of expertise! But I do get the odd failure either from pests or bad weather, wind mostly. When such things happen I just “play it by ear”.
    Don.
