Runner Beans

is it to early to put Runner Beans out? will they stand a bit of cold or frost? has any body got an answer as I am going a way next week for 2 weeks and will have to leave the deep beds to my dear neighbours care. and I will not be here to put out the fleece. thanks all Dr Dob

 It depends where you are, the main problem could be cold winds. 

Basically it is risky, possibly you cpould fleece them after planting and put canes up when you return. Or pot them on….

thank you Charles, I am on the east cost near Harwich, I had though of putting them under a fleece ‘tent’ but they need to go out. any other year and I would have timed it to perfection, but this year…… I have just had to pot on my tom’s as I have no room in my small green house to put them, because of all the other stuff. That includes out door toms to go under plastic. thank you for you help. Dr Dob
