Just back from my local village show, 8 first’s, 4 second’s, and a third!  Won the high point Jubilee Trophy, for the second year running. This only my third year growing veg, thanks to following Charles’s books, way to go no dig!

Any one else out there, having a go at showing?

Thanks for sharing this Forgecroft and congratulations, you deserve a wild celebration.
It is great for me to hear that the books are a help, makes all those hours at the desk worthewhile, though I do enjoy writing them. Maybe you should enter a larger show, though it does require a lot of time, and I think one’s local show is more fun.

    Hi Charles,

The nicest thing was in private I was told by one of the committee, the judge was so impressed by the quality and range of produce that she/he said I should consider becoming a judge, and left a leaflet and referral card, that really made my day.

Last year I just showed tomatoes and got a 1st and a 3rd.

This year, I’m going to add potatoes, carrot, beet, runner bean, raspberry. The carrot, beet and runner bean have been grown using no dig and the raspberries had a good dose of rotted manure in the spring (should have been the autumn, but there we go) and have been epic. Only the potatoes have ben done using digging, not to mention using bags (which has actually caused quite a bit of scab).

Hope I do half as well as you do!

    Congrats for the green fingers!

    Rhys
