It looks gorgeous. Purple varieties tend to be less vigorous too.

These were planted in Spring 2014, makes them 3 year old as they were bought as a year old crowns.

We have been eating asparagus through our ears as we have 7 beds of them.

Many of them are of the F1 male varieties (can be green or grown as the white variety which is much adored by the Germans here)

In addition, we have converted many to green asparagus as it is just astounding that no one we know has ever eaten green asparagus! Many of them now are amazed by the taste! I have told them only freshly harvested like this unlike store bought ones which has completely lost it´s sweetness!
