I live in Somerset. I have planted half of my outside beds with spring/summer salads. Having been warned of Draught the fateful weathermen are now saying Snow…. Should I be investing in miles of fleece? What are other people doing? K
Good old spring weather, I think your salads will be fine Kate. If any damage is to happen it could be the hard frost on the nights after the rain or sleet clears through. But young lettuce, spinach, peas etc are hardy to that. I have mine meshed or fleeced already but mainly against badger and rabbit, am wondering how to proceed when the covers need to come off in a fortnight or so… wild animals are gradually taking over here!
Half of my garden looks like it has snowed already with so much fleece down. Was going to take it off salads etc. last week because of the heat but think i’ll leave it put for the time being. Just about to plant seed grown onions and wondered if there is anything to be gained by covering with fleece also? Tried it with sets few years ago but seemed to make more bolt. Can’t blame the animals Charles, must feel like 5 star hotel for your rabbits!
