Hi
I have a bed of about 2mx5m and have covered in cardboard. I have also managed to lay about 3 inches of well rotted cow manure on top. I have 3 impatient children (and myself!) Desperate to plant in here! How soon can we plant in here? I am just worried that the cardboard will prevent anything routing.

Daniel I am not aware that it says anywhere here that you have to wait.

Cardboard goes soft quite quickly but meanwhile your veg have the compost to root in.
I guess you had weeds to smother, otherwise (for the benefit of others reading) cardboard is not obligatory. It’s to help smother weeds.
So if it were bare soil, just some compost is sufficient and off you go.
