Something is nibbling away at my bell pepper plants that I have in my poly tunnel. So far not all the plants have been attacked. I have checked the underside of leaves and found nothing-not even any traces of slug activity. Are there any suggestions as to what it might be please? Are there any types of insects that particularly favour pepper plants? What about rodents?
many thanksA bit more detail will help Matt: if it is serrated leaf edges, that can (I think) be miners, maybe woodlice, afraid I have no solutions and perhaps the plants are not too affected?
Not at the moment Matt, I need to sort that with my host when he returns from holiday quite soon. You could email it via the site in low res and I can upload it.
The little critters are nibbling at my peppers in the polytunnel I have planted a row of marigolds along the path and they are all over them aswell. is there anything I can or should do ? I have always liked woodlice but my Norfolk Naga’s do not.
Yes they seem inoffensive but become a problem when numbers escalate. Afraid I know no quick solution but long term I would avoid using woody composts in the tunnel, such as green waste with its shredded wood.
Also woodlice do less damage to established plants so your peppers should recover and become healthy, especially in this warmth. The weather has not helped.
I visited a friend at the weekend who keeps their poorly plants in the aviary, where the quail help with bug control. Got me thinking that perhaps I should look in to having a few when I get some more space….
ok thank you. I just can’t believe how many of them there. Must be extremely favourable conditions for them, I’m going to try and put some kind of physical barrier around the more vulnerable plants until they are slightly more established.
