I’m going to have a go this year sowing onion seeds rather than using sets.
My Maria Thun calendar ordered online hasn’t yet arrived and I noticed that I’d missed the ‘2 days before full moon’ window for January just as I was thinking about getting started.
Do you know if there’s much effect of the moon on onion growth (i.e. should I wait until the start of Feb for another favourable window) or will getting started now be perfectly fine?
Looking to select out 100 vigorously growing plants by pricking out about 160-200 and gradually selecting up to April’s transplant into the garden.

Funnily enough I did a trial last year and noticed little difference between before and after full moon. Whereas carrots were stronger and a little larger from sowing 2 days before full moon. My results vary.
I sow my onions in mid February but you certainly can start now.
