Having just watched your video on multiple sowing of onions I was wondering if you would treat shallots the same way from seed? I usually save shallots from the previous year to replant but would like to try and grow some from seed.
Yes Bladesy you can, best sow Feb to March same as onions but 3-4 seeds/cell for a good size
I tried multiple sowing for banana shallots this year and it worked fine. However I do wonder if soil is not yet in optimal condition just starting no dig whether a concentration of roots is better than a uniform row of singles.
Does Charles have any experience of this?
I have not compared this Rhys.
It’s not all about precise spacing. I reckon that plants enjoy the multisow approach because they stay with their mates and have company after planting.
