Hi,
I am in the process of starting a cut flower farm. We have 24 acres but I have a 1 acre plot that I want to transform into pick your own field. The field is currently grass that previioulsy had pigs grazing and we have heavy-and i mean HEAVY-clay. I thought the no dig approach would be a great way to start transforming the field (I don’t plan to use it for another full year) but I feel a little daunted on how to start and if it is even possible with a plot so large? Was thinking of creating 1 metre planting rows with grass either side but worry the grass will take over the flower plots. Do you have any advice you could offer me?

BuckinghamshireAn acre is possible no dig, easier to manage once set up, but the starting out year or two need commitment and planning.And an initial 4in compost mulch will improve your clay, then with a poly cover on top to kill the grass.
Grass on paths invade beds so you would need mypex/polythene covers on beds all the time, to keep them clean. Check out Blooming Green in Kent who grow like this.
