Just curious, if you use the no dig method for planting crops into what do you use to start seed off in, Modules? and if so what do you use in the modules as the manure/compost would be tooo coarse.
And my Q is which commercial compost do you recommned for germinating seeds?
I’ve used up most of my homemade garden compost, which I guess would have been ideal…
I use the large 125l bags of compost from B&Q for my seed sowing. I keep trying peat free composts but with less success unfortunately. I do sieve out some of the bits but have found it to be good value for money. You can fill a lot of trays, pots and modular containers with 125l.
For most veg i use 3 cm cells trays and vermicompost. It’s fine structure and life are amazing qualities for starting seeds.
You can also start seeds in fine compost tilth in a garden, no rule to start in modules. Although it helps a lot and is welcomed.
I was much against starting in trays, but it worked for me last year so good i will never look back.
