Two years ago, we had an epic crop on our Cox Orange Pippin, but it went biennial despite thinning. This year is looking similar.
Is there a time to thin (after the drop is complete?) and how many fruit to leave on a 10ft high tree after thinning?
Yes thin now! If its tending biennial, hard thin to one per cluster and without seeing the tree, hard to say more but one usually thins too few on one’s own trees! In Italy the peach growers prune each others’ orchards, they know its difficult to thin their own hard enough.
