Hi Charles,
I was wondering if you would share your thoughts on the subject of walking on soil in raised beds. From my experience certain veg require firm soil if they are not to be uprooted in blustery weather. I don’t think you do any damage by lightly threading on the soil in a raised bed but I would really appreciate your insight on this. I believe you advocate this?
Don.
Yes Don, undug soil with some compost on the surface has firm structure which is not damaged by wight on top, unless it is saturated with water. I sometimes tread on my beds, especially in dry weather, to reach the middle or break up lumps or whatever.
