Hi Charles
Probably like everybody else I have a glut of lettuce. Is it better to continue picking leaves to maintain a pick and come again regime, even if the leaves end up on the compost? If left to grow without ‘pruning’ I suspect the lettuce will mature rather than providing leaves over a longer period.

Yes John keep picking at least weekly, it takes less time than retrieving overgrown plants and helps them live longer, and feeds the compost heap, or chickens.
