I decided to try salad turnips in my polyhouse this winter. Sowed in early October in the ground. They sprouted nicely and sat all winter. In the last month a wonderful growth spurt, lovely healthy looking maybe 8″ greens. No turnip though. We had a mild winter except for maybe a week cold at the beginning of December. Our cherry blossoms are well advanced and daffodils starting to open. The polyhouse has been dry this winter due to a lack of enthusiasm for hauling water from the house…
So the question, should I still expect a turnip to form, or give in gracefully and serve turnip greens?
