    Recently taken over a 12m x 6m plot. To my surprise having started to clear the weeds I found a plastic covering which has apparently been there for over 10 years. Very nice soil. I have marked out two beds. What must I a to the beds? Do I need to airiate the bed? The soil does contain a lot of small stones,is this an issue?

    Weed growth shows the soil is fine.
    Remove that plastic, do the mulching and that is it.
    Stones are fine, in the 1980’s I cropped Cotswold Brash soil, full of stone, lovely veg.

    Thanks Charles. I am still not a 100% sure about mulching.Is mulch a general term for any and all compost,manure and leaf mould ect or a specific combination recommended for no dig. What thickness of mulch. When will I be able to start planting out.
