    Hi Charles,

i was wondering if it would be ok to use the compost ( shop bought multipurpose )from last years tubs and containers to put on the manure in my veg` patch as a planting layer/tilth, or would it by now of little or no nutritional value? I`d love to recycle it this way if it`s of any use ( and save money! )instead of just chucking it away!

    Thanks,

    Stephen

I would certainly use it again, more a question of how, and we had a question before of reusing the same compost used for flowers, to grow salad:

Best results will come from replacing it, depending a little on the vigour of last year’s flowers. Why not do a comparison between replacing and top dressing with new compost? I have tried both for salads and am not convinced either way.

It is certainly of value as top dressing for your vegetable patch.

I always use the compost from used pots as a mulch on my beds.
