I imagine I am not alone in the blighted outdoor tomatoes problem.I have cleared out a lot and now have empty space. Any suggestions for what I can sow and plant now will be gratefully received.

Yes, suddenly you have big spaces. My potato bed is still mostly empty and will be filling with any of chard, spinach, endive, oriental leaves, land cress and rocket. All are best sown as soon as you can, either direct or in trays/plugs for transplanting. The latter is probably more reliable this year when there are many slugs hoovering up small seedlings, which are more difficult to protect than transplants. Slugs are eating quite a few weed seedlings too!

Thankyou Charles, that will be useful.I think i will sow in modules because the flea beetles, slugs ,snails are as you say very active.Good news is that my module sown onions are wonderful!
