Hi, I work in a school in Solihull and very keen to start a Smallholding. I plan to use the No Dig Method and compost all organic matter from the site. I want to also compost the kitchen waste via a worm farm. This is where I need the help; can you compost the kitchen waste or is there a law which prevents it as it would be a commercial kitchen. Can’t find anything on the internet so far. Any help please from my fellow no dig gardeners.
Hi- our local primary school has a worm farm which takes waste from the school kitchen- but we’re in Scotland so the law might be different. You could ask your local authority schools dept or environmental health? Personally I would just do it and see if anyone challenges you! Have fun- the kids here love it and its a great educational tool (made out of an old bath- so with a recycling message too).
