Most of my fellow allotment holders are not so young and like to regularly pop onto the forum
to read what is on peoples minds and would not ever think of posting a question or opinion.
I think that there must be many gardeners who are the same and enjoy the no nonsense approach.

A hoe and a rake will do the job. It will have to be done on a regular basis so think of it as an alternative to using the gym.
I suppose you could use a weed burner then after removing the burnt weeds the first time subsequent regular burning will be easy.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I did try to use the leaves as it was very dry at the time (it has not hardly stopped raining since) and as we only have water butts on the allotment I thought it was worth trying.
As you expected it was an haven for slugs, it made finding them easy though.

Everything I read re this weed say it’s one of the most difficult to eradicate. Taking note of this I decided to just pull up every bit I could then rot it down in a covered bin.
It is actually quite easy to remove initially , however it is a constant job removing new growth, but it is reducing over time.
I have done the same with bindweed which seems to sprout even more readily.
