I have found that alpine strawberries grow really well in my asparagus bed and so does sorrel. Never had much success with the sweet corn and French beans. Not enough light for the beans.
Each year I cut out a few old branches to then pick the fruit from them. I stick them in a vase of water. After a few months they have rooted ready to plant out nice and deep. I discovered this by accident.
I have to grow mine in pots cos of alkaline soil. When the berries turn green I bring them into the porch ready to pick for my breakfast!
