I’ve had a fairly successful first year of my new no dig raised beds. We loved our peas and I’m looking at extending the growing season both ends. Has anyone got experience with starting hardy peas off in autumn? Do you still grow them I’m trays first and then put them in the ground like broad beans? Am I too late to contemplate starting now? I’m Yorkshire based. Thank you.

Mai I failed last year with Alderman and can see that you need specific overwintering, round seeded varieties. Such as Feltham First.
Probably sow mid to late October in Yorkshire.

Thank you. I may experiment with it and see whether I manage to overwinter them in pots in my cold frame or whether they grow too large before I can plant them out in early spring (in which case I may be able to harvest pea shoots in winter 🙂 )
