Our plots have been loosing a lot of ripe fruit particularly plums, apples, sweet corn, gooseberries. Other plot holders are blaming badgers buy I have seen them at work and just don’t think there is enough destruction.
However when working up there yesterday I did see several rats in broad daylight.
So will rats take these things?
Also do you have any sensible ways to get rid as shooting is out of the question due to number of buildings and people about.
Yes rats or rodents do indeed eat those.
If it was badgers you would see more general destruction.
Rats are numerous here this year, and sorry I do not know a remedy.
I have three espalier apple trees, and a damson tree . As far as I can see squirrels have ate the lot, including a large amount of my Strawberries. The apples and strawberries went earlier. In the year, before they were ripe, but they decimated the Damsons just before I was about to harvest them.
