    Hello!

So last year was our first year on our allotment. We used the no dig approach and generally speaking it went quite well. A lot of perenial weeds to keep attacking but hopefully this year will be better…

We need some help with the Borlotti Beans which we grew. We have a whole kilner jar full of them but we are struggling to get them right when cooking. We have tried steaming them and boiling them before adding to various recipies but they still seem to be very hard!

Any suggestions on how best to cook/eat these little fellas??

Thank you for Any advice in advance…

If refer to dried beans, try an over night soaking in water then cook the next day. To be fair, we’ve only used ours in stews and they were lovely when soaked over night and then cooked for a good hour in the stew the next day. For other uses I am unsure.

    Yes, soak overnight before cooking.

Pretend to be Italian, Soften onion in olive oil, add garlic then add beans you have soaked over night, cover with water plus a bit, cook slowly (you can add in some tomato too to make it even better), then cook until the beans are soft and creamy, then add salt mash the tomato into the juice, add a slick of olive oil and a scattering of parsley – delicious.
