i have just sieved out the chicken run and have an amazing looking medium. it consists of chicken poo, a year old leaf mould which the chickens shredded and soil. my question is whats the best thing to do with it. mulch, potting compost or add to current beds.

Such riches you have there, I would use it for potting compost, probably mixed with some sharp sand to increase drainage. Try some and see, with winter salads, peas, broad beans and garlic at this time.

Every autumn I cover my chicken runs with bags and bags of leaves,2 years ago I dug them out completely and added the contents to my raised beds. The quality and quantity of crops they produced was fantastic, beds were overflowing with produce. Never thought to use some of it as potting compost.

When I say bags, I mean the builders skip sacks.
