I’m trying to play “catch up” having not found time in July to sow chicory and endive for winter salad. Are there any varieties that are OK to sow now (in North Yorkshire), either for leaves or hearts?
    Thanks

     Hi Barbara

Even so far north (!) I am sure that endive bubikopf is worth sowing asap, and chicory Castelfranco. They will make hearts when sown earlier but sowing now they can be picked for leaves, from October to November (not too hard) and in early spring if cloched over winter.
