    Hi
In August we had two ornamental cherryplum trees pruned and the tree surgeon left behind a large pile of shredded prunings.
I have been mixing this with grass mowings in the compost bins hoping to make compost to put on the vegetable deep beds this autumn but it does not appear to be rotting down.
Is there anything I can add to speed up the process.
The paths in our garden are pavings slaps or concrete so I can not use the shredded prunings as path mulch.
Any ideas as to what I can do with it all?

    Thanks

It takes longer than that to decompose, up to two years, depending how large the chips/pieces are.
Adding green speeds up the process for sure.
You can use them as surface mulch providing you are happy with woody pieces on the surface. They add fertility slowly as they decompose.
    Shame about the slabbed paths!
