    Hi, I’ve just ordered a bulk bag of composted manure and mushroom compost from CPA to form the base of my new beds. Do I need to top this up with a finer compost for planting into, or is this mix ok to use? I’ve not used it before so I’m unsure how fine it will be. Thanks

    I would be happy to sow into that, though hard to be sure without seeing it.
    Sowing and planting works fine in compost which is not perfectly fine.

    Thanks Charles, that’s great news! I can spend the saved cash on some raspberry canes and blueberry bushes- I need to do these in pots as I’m out of space- nothing ventured…

    I’ve used CPA mushroom compost and it worked well.
