    Having planted some crowns a few weeks ago I noticed today that some shoots were coming through. I’ve not grown asparagus before and have the usual rabbits, pigeons, rats etc patrolling my allotment when I’m not there. Does asparagus need netting or do animals stay clear of it?

     I don’t think so Gina, certainly not pigeons, but rabbits never got as far am my asparagus patches before.

    Thanks Charles for the ever quick reply. I think I’ll keep a very close eye on it and net it if it starts disappearing. Thanks again, Gina
