I have recently taken on a 5 rod alotment which I am trying it as no dig.I have created raised beds (think they may be a bit deep for no support but we will see) and I have a couple of old builders bags that I have folded over and filled with soil/ manure.

The question is since I am in the south and I have only window sills and small unheated growhouse to start them in how soon can I plant a salad crop and expect something worthwhile to grow and what are the first to sow?

    Hello Bluebell,
    Not long to wait!
Early February is good for lettuce, spinach, peas for shoots, spinach, parsley, dill, orache. Possibly mizuna and rocket for some pickings before they flower. I reckon to start planting in late March, often with some fleece on top of beds for at least a couple of weeks.
