OOh on Sunday the night was much colder than we expected -0.02c and after spending a sunny day commenting on the wonderful growth on the new potatoes by Monday they were touched by a bit of frost and I am now wondering if they will recover or have we lost them? They were snug under loads of compost,, but I have covered them with fleece now ( a bit late but should help if we get any more cold!!!)

Same here! We had -1C so lower at ground level, then -0.5C yesterday morning, we were picking lettuce with ice on! So the spuds will recover but clearly they are knocked back & harvest is later, a bit smaller probably.
Cardboard is better than fleece for keeping frost off, see my next post for May.
