As I prepare to sow the first year in my no dig garden, I wonder what I should do for seeds that suggest to hill the soil. For example, cucumbers suggest to hill and so does watermelon. I am guessing that is not necessary with no dig and that hilling could be disruptive to the soil ecosystem/structure. Thoughts? Is hilling not recommended when going to a no dig approach?

Well I never hilled, or earthed up as we say. Having said that, you would be moving mostly compost and from a shallow layer, so it would not be too disruptive.
Many jobs that are advised as “necessary” are optional.

Ok. I plan to do this without earthing up (hilling) this year. Maybe I will run an experiment between two rows. We will see. If I do the experiment, I will report back.
