    Hi Charles

I have a heap of half rotted ingredients accumulated during last summer and autumn.Unfortunately it is probably full of all types of weed seeds and I don’t want to be spreading that on my beds.

I have access to semi-fresh horse manure. Do you think that if I assemble a new heap alternating manure and my half rotted compost I could start a hot heap with enough heat to kill weed seeeds? I know it’s winter now so not sure it would work. I am in London.

    Many thanks for your advice.

The horse manure wants to be fresh say less than two months to be sure of enough heat for that (50C) but it’s still a good plan to make nicer compost.
