    Hello Charles and all

I have cut down a couple of tomatoes that have finished producing and wondered if I could leave all the root ball in the ground, and the same for the other tomatoes when they either finish producing or the frost puts paid to them? I don’t plan to use this bed until next spring for a quick crop of something before courgettes next summer. Will the roots be a hindrance do you think? I generally leave smaller plant roots in the ground. While on the subject, I was thinking of cutting my courgettes off at soil level too and leaving their roots in the beds. Sound idea or not?

    Many thanks, Eliza
