What are the ‘lights’ made of that you are using to cover your ‘hotbeds’? All looks very interesting but labour intensive…! K

Hi Kate, I should have explained, they are wooden frames with polythene stretched over, a bit heavier than I meant. They help keep the cold wind off and make more of the hotbed heat. As you say, not an option for commercial growing! The man who wrote about them, Jack First, grows veg for a charity in Yorkshire and working with veg is healing people.

I’m definately going to make me one as it extends the season and I have a free supply of fresh horse manure, and hardly anywhere to start seeds off indoors. So this hot bed idea ticks so many boxes. Thank you Charles for posting it on your forum.

    Regards
