    Hello all
The soil in our garden here in Denmark has, over the years, become infested with liverwort. It seems to have spread to all the areas where we grow our vegetables. We have repeatedly scraped it off, and loosened the soil, added more drainage (sand and stones etc.) but it always seems to come back with aplomb. The soil in our opinion is good, and the problem only seems to be in our garden We are now beginning to adopt the no-dig approach, and will over the winter begin covering the soil with newspaper and then compost. Do you think this will eradicate the problem? Also, is liverwort something that can spread if you don’r disenfect your garden tools etc? Its amazing how much it spreads, despite the garden not being particularly shaded. The Danish summer has been pretty wet this year, though even in good summers we have struggled to get rid of the problem. I’ve attatched a couple of pictures. Any advice would be much appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes no dig will improve drainage and make your soil less attractive to liverwort, because it lt likes pooor soil and wet conditions.
A compost mulch on top has more it and feeds organisms such as worms which improve drainage.
No need to worry about disinfecting tools, itโ€™s about conditions.

Thanks for the help, Charles. We’re really looking forward to using the no-dig approach for the first time this year, so we’re hoping it will reduce the problem. We’ve begun to experiment with composting (checking the temperature etc.), and we’re also in the process of laying green compost from the local tip on our beds ready for new season, and we fetched two wheelbarrows of horse-muck from the local stables last week. Exciting times… We really appreciate your videos and books. Keep up the good work.
