    Hello Charles

I have been struggling to get any decent harvests of beetroots, either in the spring or autumn. I multisow them and plant in clumps. Only some seem to establish well. They tend to swell only a little and look quite miserable with spotting on the leaves. They look like they are not rooting well.
Is there anything I could do in the spring too get heathy beetroots next year? I don’t want to give up growing them in clumps after I see the great results you get with yours!

    Sorry to hear this, Allotmenteer.
It sounds that you need to improve soil fertility with extra compost.

A dose of liquid seaweed helps greatly in the spring, along with fleece through to end April.

Seaweed is unnecessary with good compost, helps immensely if you are just starting out. I got excellent Boltardys on soil without compost this spring…..
