is what Harry Dodson of The Victorian Kitchen Garden fame called Crosnes aka Chinese artichokes or Stachys affinis. Because they are so fiddly to clean, and he was definitely right. They are a bit of a pain, but do taste great.
Yesterday I harvested the last of mine and it involved a lot of digging, the only way to get them out. And as I really don’t want to dig, my heavy and very wet clay soil did not look good afterwards, I wondered if anybody has any experience with growing them in containers?
They need quite a bit of sun but will also stop growing if they get too little water, so one obviously would need quite a bit of taking care of if grown like that.
So if anybody has any tips I’d be happy to hear them.
