Hi I was wondering what order to put mulching materials in the poly tunnel? I noticed last year that card on the paths in my green house was very slow to decompose without any soil on top, whilst this was fine for paths Im wondering if it is better for the beds to have the card under manure?

Unless you have a lot of weeds, you don’t need any cardboard. But if weedy you can place it on top, then compost, then water to make sure the card is damp so that tomato roots etc can go through eventually.

Thanks Charles – some areas are particularly weeds as were a path so full of couch grass roots, so will probably just use on those areas. I know how well weeds grow once under cover and how hard couch grass can be to extract from dense planting!
